Alan Photos | Cassiar Motorcycle Trip

It was on my bucket list to travel straight north up the interior of BC on the Cassiar Highway. I would have liked to continue right up to Whitehorse, but this was a bit too much of a ride given the age of the bike, the age of the rider and the weather I encountered. So I turned back south on Hwy 29 a few miles north of Fort St. John. Still an amazing trip on amazing roads.

The world-famous ski resort. During the summer the slopes are used by mountain bikers that use the lifts to haul themselves and their bikes to the top. It was cold and rainy when I was here. Still crowded with tourists despite Covid and the forest fire threat. I had a hot chocolate at Timmie's to warm up and strolled around town.

The Provincial Park where I camped the first night out. Fabulous waterfall here. It rained on me three times during the night, and was cold, windy and rainy most days so I stayed in motels except for the last night which was nice weather and I camped in Clinton.

I stayed in this town two nights. There is a nice loop of approx 300km from Chetwynd east to Dawson Creek and the north west to Fort St John and then south-west back to Chetwynd. And there are many carvings from the world's chainsaw carving championship which is held here each year. On the highway from Fort St John to Chetwynd you can take a 20km detour to the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. Well worth the trip.

A historic pioneer town where I stayed my last night on the road. And had a great meal at the Roadkill Grill.
